The CPC Extension Services extended a helping hand to Typhoon Ruby evacuees on December 5-8, 2014. Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion opened its doors to the people in the affected areas by Typhoon Ruby. The Roxas City Disaster Risk Management (RCDRM) informed families living along the coastal areas to leave their houses and immediately to proceed to designated evacuation centers even before the arrival of Typhoon Ruby. They learned their lesson from Yolanda. They left their places. They would rather endure all inconveniences in evacuation centers as their temporary shelters rather than put their lives at risk. 1,458 individuals (449 families) from five barangays sought refuge at the CPC Arnaldo Campus used as evacuation center. The CPC extension services responded to the needs of evacuees especially children. The extension office gave supplemental feeding for the children in the evacuation center where there was no means to cook the food.
On December 13, 2014 the CPC Extension Services Office gave relief goods to the beneficiaries who were affected by Typhoon Ruby at Barangay Jumaguicjic.
The CPC Extension Services held a Christmas Party in Brgy. Jumaguicjic on December 25, 2014 with the theme “Pasayahin ang mga Bata sa Pasko.” It was Christmas time and once again CPC Extension Service brought happiness to the people by celebrating the holidays with the less fortunate children and adults. The CPC Extension Services office gathered the beneficiaries in the community and together they celebrated Christmas. Spending Christmas and giving gifts to the children, adults, and senior citizens of the community was a way of bringing the joys of socializing with the people of the adopted barangay. The best Christmas gift anyone can give every Christmas is to give a toy to a child who enjoys the gift. Sometimes we are all so busy planning Christmas celebration that we forget about these less fortunate people.
There are poverty-stricken people in many areas and children who never had the privilege of receiving gifts. This gift giving is experienced by them during Christmas. So they always look forward to Christmas as a day for this gift-giving.
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. Parents and children participate in the plays spearheaded by CPC Extension Office and barangay council of Jumaguicjic.
Building memories with the community is a spirit of love, caring, and joy spread throughout the year.
The entire city was shocked recently when an intense fire devastated many houses on the night of March 8, 2015 at the railway sector of Roxas City, and Sitio Cassandra, Punta Tabuc Roxas City. Many families lost their homes and their belongings. The families affected by the calamity were in need of various forms of help like financial aid, food, and used clothing specially children.
When a family loses everything in a fire, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion Extension Services goes to them to help as a Purisimian Community, it is our social obligation to reach out to our brothers and sisters who are in dire need to alleviate the devastation they experience brought about by the fire.
CPC Extension Services extended help to the fire victims to recover from the destruction. Students from different department showed their love and concern by giving the victims relief goods. The CPC Extension Services conducted needs assessment survey in Brgy. Jumaguicjic on April 29-30, 2015. This is in connection with the requirements of accreditation.
In order to know the needs, problems, and situations of the beneficiaries in the community, they should be involved in determining necessary solutions in overcoming the problems in their community and be part of the improvement and progress of the place.
The CPC Extension Committee conducted a 3-day strategic planning on May 14-16, 2015 at Isla de Gigantes Carles, Iloilo, to work effectively in carrying out the roles and responsibilities of the department and to accomplish the common mission of working together, beyond what anyone can accomplish alone. The internal and external relationships that the extension committees defined were values which are critical when accomplishing their common goals and objectives.
Core values are what individuals embrace when working together and with the community. To achieve the full potential of the plan, the college/department used the plan to help guide their work.
The CPC extension committee helps beneficiaries in the adopted barangay by providing assessment, advocacy, direct service, information and involvement by the residents of the service area. Project leaders of different departments assisted beneficiaries with services available and established networks to government and non-government agencies offering their services and resources for specific needs.
